EPLabel Online has launched as a government-approved online software tool to provide a low-cost, total-solution for Public Authorities who must comply with Display Energy Certificate (DEC)

Regulations (from 01 October 2008) and for early-movers in the private sector.
Part of Camco group (1), the team behind the software possesses market leading credentials having led the development of operational ratings in England and Wales since 2001.

While designed as a system for generating official DECs at low cost, EPLabel offers much more in terms of quality and functionality. For those responsible for energy and carbon management, it works as a powerful data management tool to provide information about a property portfolio’s energy performance, to guide decisions on energy efficiency investment and to underpin best practice environmental reporting.

For those organisations opting to invest in accrediting their own in-house public building energy assessor, several accreditation schemes – National Energy Services, CIBSE and Quidos - have already signed up to make EPLabel a software option for their members. For the accreditation scheme, the EPLabel software allows special access in order for them to accomplish their assessor monitoring and QA tasks in the most productive and cost-effective manner.

The EPLabel product package is also available to organisations who are providing a full DEC-delivery service to Public Authorities who outsource the production of their DECs. In these circumstances, the product still offers the Public Authority the option to view the DEC and energy performance metrics of each building in their portfolio.

The special features of EPLabel Online include:
  • An online and integrated database storing year-on-year energy performance data of every individual building within a property portfolio
  • Tailored functionality for different users: energy and building managers, DEC assessors and accreditation scheme QA monitors
  • Automatic upload of existing energy consumption data for a building portfolio
  • Automated analysis and data processing of sites with multiple buildings
  • Key energy management information on a building portfolio’s energy performance and other critical
  • information such as DEC renewal datesA free-to-use, fully functioned web based training environment
  • Simple and transparent fee structure
  • User-friendly design and simple to use

“With value and carbon management functionality at its core, EPLabel is much more than just a DEC production tool," explained Robert Cohen, technical director at Camco. "We’ve designed it to meet the needs of all the players within the DEC generation process. It combines an energy management tool for energy managers, with a smart user-friendly DEC production tool for assessors and a monitoring and QA tool for the accreditation schemes."

Brian Scannell, managing director at National Energy Services commented; "Since 2007, nearly a third of a million EPCs (317,000) have been undertaken by our members. From October 2008 onwards, we are expecting the new DEC requirements to also drive significant levels of demand. By joining forces with Camco, we have ensured our members gain access to an effective software solution for DEC production, and have the appropriate resources they need to play a fundamental role in improving the energy management of UK buildings."
